About the wine

Sangiovese is a tough grape to get right outside of Italy and we'll admit that last year's version of this cuvée was still finding its bearings. However, we can't be more pleased with the 2019s, which have decidedly more depth, crunch and the rusticity we long from the variety. This is still a semi-carbo juicy gem (it is Borachio after all) but we'd be happy enjoying this with some carbonara and fava beans, you know?

Mark Warner and Alicia Basa are the type of people with whom you could never say no to a beer. Their laughter and charm is immediately infective; their authenticity is unquestionable. After making their start working with James Erskine of Jauma, the couple crafted their own project, sourcing organic grapes from Mount Compass and Mount Torrens to make light, lithe wines with a cheeky soul. Zero additives, no funny business (except when drinking.)

The Producer: Borachio

Borrachio produces grape-based drinks on Peramangk Country, using fruit cultivated by the wonderful people on Kaurna and Peramangk lands. They aim to create wines that are vibrant and elegant, crafted with great dedication and purpose. To achieve this, they maintain a straightforward and delicate approach in their winemaking process. All of their wines are crafted without any additional or subtractive elements, except for their amaro (grape spirit/aromats) and piquettes (water/hops).
