About the wine

The vines are situated at high elevation and are cultivated in the lively volcanic soils of the region. The vineyard is meticulously tended to by hand, following organic practices. This careful approach, along with limited yields, ensures the production of robust and flavorful fruit. The grapes undergo natural fermentation without the use of temperature control, allowing the process to extend for several months. To further enhance their unique qualities, the wines are aged in terracotta amphorae and large casks crafted from local woods. They are then bottled without filtration or any additional additives. As a result, these wines possess a distinct and vibrant expression of both the grape variety and the terroir.

The Producer: Cantina Giardino

Antonio and Daniela De Gruttola are on a mission to discover ancient vineyards in the elevated hills of Campania's Irpinia region. They are dedicated to promoting and safeguarding the local grape varieties, as well as preserving the traditional methods of vine cultivation. Their philosophy is simple: they believe in allowing the unique characteristics of the terroir to shine through in their wines.
