This is a totally unique, black-fruit and chai spice-driven expression of true, ungrafted old-vine Loire Gamay. Olivier Lemasson works nine hectares of vines in the Loire Valley’s Touraine sub-region.
Vinification: 100% Gamay. The grapes are hand-harvested from 80-100 year old ungrafted (franc de pied) vines grown in clay-silex soils. The grapes undergo a spontaneous short, whole-cluster carbonic maceration with only the help of native yeasts (and O2-deprivation typical of carbonic maceration). Bottled after a period of barrel aging in the late spring. Unfined, unfiltered, with no additional SO2. 13%ABV
