This is a very bright, tart, and electric take on the autochthonous Campanian grape variety Coda di Volpe from Antonio and Daniela Gruttola of Cantina Giardino who work ~6 hectares of vines in the Campanian hills around the town of Irpinia.

Tasting: A pithy orange with all the essential oils of the peel kissing your nose; a dip into the Mediterranean with the herbs of your last Campari soda mixing with the sea salt air. Just enough tannins to leave you chewing the wine for hours. Let this baby open up for an hour ahead of time, drink not-quite cold, and be prepared to have your socks knocked off.

Vinification: 100% Coda di Volpe hand-harvested from old-vines (70+ years-old), the grapes undergo a relatively short maceration (four days with pumpovers) and spontaneously ferment in casks of local acacia, chestnut, and oak. The wine is aged for a year and bottled unfined, unfiltered, with no additional SO2. 11.5% ABV
