This is an awesome, complex, and structured Iberian rosé -- with two Portuguese and one Spanish variety -- grown at Fox Hill Vineyard in addition to Rorick Heritage Vineyard in Calaveras (farmed by Matthew Rorick), Northern California. From Evan Lewandowski of Ruth Lewandowski Wines of Healdsburg.
Vinification: A blend of Touriga Nacional, Souzão, and Tempranillo hand-harvested from ~17 year-old vines grown in primarily sandstone soils. The grapes are directly pressed and undergo spontaneous co-fermentation (ambient yeasts; no temp. control) in addition to malolactic fermentation all in polyethylene (flex tank) before a short élevage also in polyethylene. The wine is bottled unfined, unfiltered, with no additional SO2.
