Collection: Weingut Thorle
Since the 16th century, viticulture has coursed through the family's veins, with Christoph and Johannes Thörle proudly stepping into the winemaking legacy in 2006. Their focus revolves around the classic grape varieties—Riesling, Pinot Noir, white Burgundy varieties, and Silvaner. The initial years saw a complete transformation, marked by heightened manual labor in the vineyards, meticulous yield reduction, and selective hand harvesting, resulting in a significant boost in grape quality. The gentle handling of aromatic, ripe grapes, extended maceration, and fermentation with wild yeasts from our vineyard encapsulate the minerality of northern Rhine-Hesse. Their journey to establish a top-tier winery demanded hard work and substantial investments, fueled by an unwavering belief in reaching the pinnacle of winemaking excellence. They toil in their vineyards daily, ensuring each vine, grape, and bottle bears our unique signature. After decades of Rhine-Hessian hill country plants being absent from global wine lists, a transformative shift has occurred. Saulheim's limestone-rich vineyards, once overlooked, now yield wines earning stellar international ratings. Gratitude permeates our winemaking journey, as they tap into their family's rich winegrowing heritage. Today, they walk in the footsteps of their ancestors, fueled by the obligation to perpetuate a tradition dating back to the 16th century—a motivating force that drives them every single day.
