Vinification: 100% Sev Areni from the Vayots Dzor region of Armenia (!!!). 150 year-old ungrafted vines at 6500 ft elevation. Hand-harvested, fermented on native yeasts, unfined, unfiltered, with no added sulphur.
Tasting: Upon opening, you're greeted with a mushroomy, smoky aroma and a hit of ocean spray cranberry juice on the palate. Let this breathe for about 30 minutes while you prep a red sauce and get the pasta water boiling? You will be rewarded with an earthy, rich, smoky, much more balanced and mellowed out version of that first sip. Not to mention... how many Armenian wines have you tried? Probably not a ton!! Give this a shot and see why we're hyped. Made by Aaron Rawlins, who left the United States at age 18 to cook in France, Spain, and the UK, before moving to the Georgian and Armenian Caucasus to make wine.
