The Details
This is total gardenia on the nose where such aromatics are led by a kind of dewy steward into a palate of intense freshness, green meets citrus, from Alice Bouvot of Domaine de l’Octavin who tends five hectares of vines around Arbois in the Jura region of far eastern France.
Vinification: A blend of Muscat d’Alexandrie and Muscat Blanc à Petit Grains hand-harvested from 50 year-old vines grown in clay and limestone soils. The grapes undergo whole-cluster 15-day maceration in tanks with spontaneous fermentation otherwise (ambient yeasts, no temp. control). The wine is aged ~12-18months before bottled unfined, unfiltered, with no additional SO2.
