The Details
This is an aromatic, red-fruit (think strawberry preserves and rhubarb) delight with some ripe tannins and distinct earthy tones from Jean-François Nicq who works in the Banyuls, Roussillon, France.
Vinification: 100% Grenache hand-harvested from 50 year-old vines grown in decomposed granitic soils. The grapes are chilled on arrival and undergo spontaneous fermentation (ambient yeasts; no temp. control), 50% destemmed, 50% whole-cluster carbonic. Both free-run and pressed-juices are blended and élevage lasts 6 months in used barrels. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, no additional SO2.
