Šumenjak farm is a family estate in Jakobski dol, 17 km from Maribor. They cultivate 14 ha of land, which in addition to viticulture, also deals with beekeeping, spirits, and the breeding of suckler cows.
"Our main concern in wine production is the vineyards because we want them to showcase the microclimate, soil and work of the grower. We do not fertilize the vineyards, nor do we want to use herbicides and synthetic protectants. The yield of the vines is low. We harvest healthy grapes at appropriate maturity. The grapes are macerated depending on the variety and style of the wine, and then the fermentation and ripening of the wine is more closely monitored than directed so that the wine is produced as naturally as possible."
