Tenuta Santa Lucia, "Pantha Rhei" 2021

Tenuta Santa Lucia is a second-generation farm in the eastern heart of Emilia-Romagna. Outside the town of Mercato Saraceno, some 250m above sea-level as the Savio River (whose eponymous valley forms the slopes along which the farm's vineyards are grown) falls down its course to the Adriatic. The farm consists of nearly 100hectares of land though only 12 are cultivated under vine -- its varieties are planted to lost specialties of this area. Bombino, Albana, Famoso and the like often see monovarietal expression in frizzante form, charting an alternate course for the sparkling wines of Emilia-Romagna, globalized as an overfarmed ocean of semi-sweet Lambrusco. There are many buried viticultural histories in this ancient region which spans the northern central corridor of the peninsula, among them, the kind of vision captured in the bottles of this humble biodynamic farm.
