The Details
This is a broad, open-armed white from Alessandro Viola who works seven hectares of vines in the hills around Alcamo toward the western end of Sicily.
Tasting Notes: The nose soars with tropical fruit and wet honeyberry before descending into a palate reminiscent of simple joys, like eating a bowl of well-washed fruit in the warmth of a window's-worth of sun. Easing acidity balances the wine.
Vinification: 100% Catarratto harvested at 250 m on limestone-clay soils. Spontaneous fermentation in steel and aging in old large chestnut barrels.
