The Details
This is a lighter, hot-climate, classic Bordeaux Blend from Louis + Sholto Broderick of Basket Range Winery whose estate covers just over 5 hectares in Basket Range, Adelaide Hills, South Australia.
Tasting Notes: Medium-bodied, the wine opens with a touch of reduction on the nose that, with time, softens into a flinty aspect. Blackcurrants, plum, and thorny bramble lead into a palate with singing acid. The finish is relatively short with a savory, shiitake mushroom farewell.
Vinification: A blend of 50% Petit Verdot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot hand-harvested, before being spontaneously fermented in open-top tanks with only ambient yeasts in whole-bunches, destemmed, and destemmed, respectively. Blended before bottling, the wine is unfined, unfiltered with no additional SO2. 13.8%ABV
