What is the distinction between Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio? Is it whether Carmela Soprano would drink it or send it back? In truth, the difference is linguistic, but the styles we associate with Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio were in Mark and Alicia's minds when they made this direct press version of the grape (in contrast with last year's lovely ramato PG). This is the more rounded, aromatic kind of vibe, fleshy melon fruit, it is fun drinking but there is a fine framework of pithy texture and acid crunch that keep this high on the drinkability as well as the thinkability scale. We love it!
Mark Warner and Alicia Basa are the type of people with whom you could never say no to a beer. Their laughter and charm is immediately infective; their authenticity is unquestionable. After making their start working with James Erskine of Jauma, the couple crafted their own project, sourcing organic grapes from Mount Compass and Mount Torrens to make light, lithe wines with a cheeky soul. Zero additives, no funny business (except when drinking.)
