This is a fresh and fruity orange wine from Progetto Calcarius, a collaboration between the winemakers Valentina Passalacqua and Danilo Marcucci who oversee a very large acreage under vine around Valentina's hometown of Arpicena, which sits at the foot of the Gargano Mountains in Puglia, Southeast Italy.
Tasting Notes: The charm of mediterranean sea, stone, and sand envelops this iconic bottling from Valentina Passalacqua. A tensile acid spine fizzes away with the joy of whole-hearted juice. Sun-dried apricot, orange blossom, salted citrus peel, white lilies. Puglia in all its glory.
Vinification: 100% Falanghina hand-harvested from 15-20 year-old vines planted in the Arpicena's pristine Kimmeridgian limestone soil. The grapes are destemmed and undergo spontaneous fermentation kickstarted only by native yeasts in stainless steel. They macerate on the skins for 5 days. Twice-weekly bâtonnage and racking at four different points throughout the fermentation. Unfined, unfiltered, with a touch of SO2 at bottling. 11.5% ABV
