This is a lovely, fuller rosé from Christina Netzl of "Christina" who tends 28 hectares of vines in Carnuntum of Neiderösterreich (Lower Austria) between Lake Neusiedl and the Danube river, where Austria shares a border with Slovakia.
Tasting Notes: Crisp, easy, clean and crunchy! A joyously full take on rosé with singing acidity that lifts it into a kind of structureless territory (i.e. pliable, lip-smacking, day-drinking fun). Think crushed cherries, stone fruit under summer sun.
Vinification: 100% Zweigelt grown in red gravel and loess soils in Carnuntum of Austria's Neiderösterreich, hand-harvested and whole-bunch direct-pressed (after a few hours of maceration to impart color). Spontaneous fermentation takes place (ambient yeasts; with temp. control) in stainless steel over the course of 2 weeks. After another 2 weeks, the wine is once-racked (to get rid of gross lees) before another 6 weeks maturation sur (fine) lie. The wine is bottled unfined, unfiltered with a minimal addition of SO2.
