The Details
In 1989 following a career making wine barrels, Dominique and Catherine Derain bought 5.5hectares of vines in perhaps the hidden gem of all of Burgundy, St. Aubin. Literally bordering some of the most expensive plots in the world – Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet – Domaine Derain is located on inimitable terroir which they have treated with the utmost respect for nearly 32 years, farming biodynamically since the purchase of their land. Similarly, they’ve implemented low-intervention in the cellar since their first days and as renegades (in the eyes of the appellation committees and some neighbors who farm and vinify ‘conventionally’), they’ve met likeminded friends throughout the years.
100% Chardonnay from Saint Aubin in Côte de Beaune.
