About the wine
100% Chenin Blanc from its foremost biodynamic cultivator in Savennières, Nicolas Joly. This is from the eponymous Vieux Clos vineyard, 5.5 hectares planted to 30 year-old Chenin vines over schistous/sandy soils. Grapes are hand-harvested and slowly, directly pressed upon arrival at the winery. Spontaneous fermentation and élevage of 5-7 months all in neutral barrel. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, minimal added SO2. 14.5%ABV (Dry, balanced, elegant, and the most aromatic of the Joly range -- all of the estate's wines likewise benefit from decanting no matter the age though especially in their youth).
