The Details
This is a superb summer wine from Manolis Garalis who works 5 hectares of vines on the volcanic Aegean island of Lemnos.
Tasting Notes: Tropical fruit usher the nose forward along sea-salted winds. Easy-drinking though with a pleasantly piquant and slightly savory watermark on the palate. A summer lunch's dream companion.
Vinification: 94% Muscat of Alexandria, 6% Limnio, these certified-organic grapes are hand-harvested from a range of old and young vines (from 1972-2015!) grown in thin volcanic and limestone soils. The grapes macerate for one day and fermentation is kickstarted by a preparation of native yeasts. Malolactic fermentation is blocked and the wine ages for five months in stainless steel before a mild paper filtration. The wine is unfined. 12.5%ABV
