This is the only year-year dedicated rosé from Gut Oggau. Winifred is renowned – a pale, floral opening belies the full fruit on display. A wine for all occasions, truly, as easily enjoyed under a tree on a Saturday afternoon or on the dinner table with burgers and roasted hen-of-the-woods.
Vinification: A blend of Blaufrankisch and Zweigelt hand-harvested from younger vines (35 years-old, approximately) grown in primarily gravel soils. This is not a saignee method wine as these grapes are used exclusively in crafting the vintage’s Winifred. Spontaneous Fermentation takes place with only ambient yeasts and no temp. control in used barrels of 500, 1000, and 1500L. Élevage lasts for ~8 months, no battonage. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, with no additional SO2.
