The broader historical and cultural region of Catalonia has long (well, in the time-scale-scope of the Natural Wine Movement as it is today, so this 'long' represents ~20ish years) been a home to, and wellspring of, natural wine lodestars and shooting stars. Some of the bona fide trailblazers - the use of the word forefathers is often employed - for Natural Wine set roots down here many, many decades ago. Clustered around the village of Calce in the Corbieres of France's Roussillon, loads of producers have worked with or for biodynamic-viticulture-extraordinaire Gerard Gauby of his eponymous domaine, before setting off on their own. Perhaps most well-known among the names to have worked here was Tom Lubbe of Matassa though another very early acolyte and mentee of Gauby was Jean-Louis Tribouley, one of the core of a self-styled communist collective in this corner of northern Catalonia, alongside the likes of Jean-Francois Nicq, Laurence Manya-Krief, Alain Castex, Stephane Morin, FX Dauré, Jean-Phillipe Padie, etc. Since 2002, Jean-Louis has made a name for himself over 10.5 hectares in one of the villages next to Calce called Latour de France, in the elevated-valley-national-park-and-cultural-region known as the Fenouilledès which corresponds, roughly, to the Agly River Basin. The vines are farmed organically and vinified zero/zero, with a finessed touch and scrubby brightness particular to the unadulterated wines of this very specific area of the Roussillon. 

Pyrénées-Orientales, France. A blend of Carignan, Grenache & Syrah. After a 10 day carbonic maceration, the wine ages in concrete. Unfined, unfiltered, no SO2.
