The Details

From Bretaudeau, this is the odd biodynamic Merlot from Muscadet - one of a kind from one of France's great modern vignerons. 0.5 hectares of this variety planted to granitic/quartzite soils. Vines are 20-25 years-old, and grapes are hand-harvested, whole-bunch spontaneously fermented for a short period of time prior to pressing. Aged for 18 months in neutral Burgundy barrel before bottling unfined, unfiltered, minimal (<30ppm) added SO2.
