The Details
This is a jaw-dropping Fleurie. Bright and sunny up front with amazing length though its length comes not from tannin and traditional ‘power’ rather – it wanders off on the wind of chocolatey, raspberry acidity and something savory, akin to almonds. From Julie Balagny who works ~8.2 hectares of farmland (vines, woodland, prairie) spread across Fleurie and Moulin-a-Vent.
Vinification: 100% Gamay hand-harvested from ninety year-old vines grown in the pink granite/quartz soils of three secluded hectares on a steep slope at relatively high elevation in Fleurie’s hills. 12-18 months élevage before bottling unfined, unfiltered, with no additional SO2. 14% ABV
*We are only able to honor one bottle per customer.
