The Details
Sabrina and Stefano of La Stesa met in 2013 and started producing wines in 2017 on Monte Amiata, an ancient volcano between Montalcino and the Maremma, in a polycultural farmland where vineyards are very fragmented and coexist with fruit trees, chestnut trees, cherry trees and ancient olive trees.
100% Sangiovese from vines of varying ages, exposures and altitudes around Monte Amiata. Hand-picked and harvested mid-september the grapes are manually destemmed and lightly foot trod. Spontaneous fermentation/maceration takes place in stainless steel tank for 5 weeks prior to racking into a mixture of tank/large neutral barrel where the wine ages for 22 months. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, minimal SO2 at bottling. 14%ABV
