The Details
Le Coste is the brainchild of husband-wife team Gianmarco Antonuzzi and Clémentine Bouveron who met once upon a time at oenology school in Alsace, the northeast forests of France, far from their current life amidst their vines that overlook Lazio’s Lago di Bolsena, the largest volcanic lake in Europe. Theirs is a picturesque setting at altitude, looming in the northwestern foothills of Gradoli, an ancient arena of volcanic origin with islands dotting the elliptically shaped Lago that feeds the Bolsena Caldera, part of the Vulsini Volcanic District. This terminology is to say: history here runs deep, and the wines crafted here run delicious.
Vinification: A blend of Sangiovese and Merlot. De-stemmed, pressed and lightly macerated on the skins before being tranferred to a fiber glass tank for a short aging period. Bottled in a 1L bottle with no fining, filtering or SO2. 12.5% ABV.
Tasting: Cloudy and ruby red in the glass. High acid, juicy, rainier cherry. Ideal pizza wine. Serve chilled!
