The Details
100% Montepulciano from a 0.5 hectare plot of 35-year-old vines, planted on ochre-yellow sandstone. Spontaneous yeast fermentation, with ten days maceration, no pumpovers, but some foot stomping. Fermentation stopped slightly early, leaving some residual sugar. Rested in stainless steel. The nose is subtle, but gives the rustic Italian countryside that the palate overturns. The mouth is pickled cranberries and banana leaf with an end that is a touch metallic with red Sour Patch Kid tang. Pair with HBO's Chernobyl.
