100% Sauvignon Blanc grown on Robert Surmann’s vineyard located in Totness, grown on black sandy soil overlying petrified schist. Whole bunches placed in a 2400L wooden fermenter and then topped with free-run juice until the fermenter is full. The fermenter is sealed and the wine undergoes carbonic ferment and is aged for 4 months on the macerated whole bunches. The wine is pressed in winter and bottled. The wine is a slightly cloudy, golden color with a kaleidoscope of orange hues. It's aromas of citrus peel and marigolds lift above the myrrh of snappiness.
"There is a tension in this wine from the pull of savory tannins and the sweet perfume of kumquats. Orange wine has existed forever and will never die because it is sublime." - Anton
Anton Von Klopper is a natural wine genius, one of the great legends of South Australian natty wine and one of the heroes of zero additive wines in the Southern hemisphere. Located in the Basket Range of South Australia, Anton started his Lucy Margaux label in 2002 as a tribute to his daughter Lucy and to a cheeky take on the famous Chateau Margaux.
