This is a refreshing orange wine from Macchion dei Lupi whose estate is comprised of ~3.5 hectares outside Suvereto, a beautiful town on the western coast of southern Tuscany, within reach of the Mediterranean.
Tasting Notes: Candied lemon and garrigue invite you into Suvereto, and what you leave with is what you've come for: to stay. A long finish on this lip-smacking orange wine that balances its acidity with really velvety, smooth tannins. A thousand days under this sunny tuscan bottling.
Vinification: 100% Ansonica, a local grape variety, hand-harvested from vines grown in sandy soil strewn with lava deposits. The grapes are harvested in four different passes to achieve a distinct layering of texture, acidity, and ripeness. Fermentation is kickstarted only by native yeasts in open-top tanks where the juice stays in contact with the skins for a week. The wine then ages on its lees for 8 months in a combination of steel tank, acacia tonneau, and concrete vats. Unfined, unfiltered, no additional SO2. 12.5% ABV
