Located in southern Beaujolais, Marcel Joubert took over his family's three generation old estate in the mid 1970s. His vines range in age from 50-100 years old, and he has always farmed organically and implements some biodynamic practices. He is a dedicated steward of the land and his wines show Beaujolais in its purest form, just fermented grapes.
Vinification: 100% organic and biodynamic Gamay from 70 year-old vines grown on sandy hilly terrain, over granite subsoils. Grapes are hand-harvested, followed by a whole-cluster, semi-carbonic maceration in cement tank using indigenous yeasts. Ages 6-8 months longer after primary fermentation in used barrel. Unfined, unfiltered with no additional sulphur.
