The Details
This is a big and slightly saline orange wine from Oriol Artigas who works twelve and a half hectares of vines around his hometown Vilassar de Dalt, located in the Alella region of northeastern Spain.
Tasting Notes: Garrigue and Bosc Pear layer the bouquet of La Bestia, and where such a fragrant nose could otherwise indicate an overeager bottling, it is certainly not the case here. The palate reigns in such a filamented delicacy of texture all you'll want to do is weigh the wine on your tongue or, put more directly, all you'll want to do is savor this Alellan orange gift.
Vinification: Per José Pastor's Selections wonderful website:
"100% Pansa Blanca from the Vinya d’en Mundu vineyard just north of Barcelona. The grapes were hand-harvested and skin macerated for about a week before pressing to tank. The wine was wild yeast fermented and raised oxidatively on the lees for 10 months before being bottled without fining, filtration or added SO2."
