This is a light, and supremely balanced orange wine from Stergios Papras who works 4.5 hectares of vines in Tyrnavos, Thessaly on one of Greece's few plains (Thessalian Plains) beneath the fearsome and famous Mount Olympus.
Tasting Notes: A richly aromatic and minerally expression of Roditis that shows off how gentle orange tannins can be. Soft, rolling foothills of astringency support the back end of this lip-smacking joy.
Vinification: 100% Roditis certified-organic grapes are hand-harvested from 23-26 year-old vines grown in well-draining limestone soil. Spontaneous fermentation is kickstarted with only native yeasts at ambient temp., and the grapes macerate with 25 days of skin and partial (50%) stem contact in stainless. The wine is finished with a few days of barrel development in old oak in addition to a minimal sulfite addition at bottling.
