The Details
Farming ~6ha of vines over a complex mix of soils around the town of Pezenas near Herault, Languedoc, Remi Poujol is one of the most well-respected vignerons in the region. This is a dark, fruit-forward classic southern french blend that would do well with a decant and a chill - a youthful, brambly delight.
Vinification: A blend of 50% Carignan, 25% Grenache, 25% Syrah hand-harvested from vines grown in quartz, clay, and granite soils. Spontaneous fermentation (ambient yeasts; no temp. control) takes place in addition to a gentle maceration. A healthy élevage (~18 months) before being bottled unfined, unfiltered, with no additional SO2.
