The Renner sisters Susane and Stefanie of Weingut Rennersistas comprise the third generation of this family’s grapegrowing/winemaking history. They’ve recently been joined by their brother Georg, as well, making this a fully family affair! Working in the natural wine hotbed around Lake Neusiedl in Austria’s far eastern wine region Burgenland, they define their style with the same sort of joy at the core of the Geschickt and Dard et Ribo operations: “[These] are… complex and characteristic wines that represent where they come from. Or basically just really good wines.” Of course this belies, to a certain degree, all the intense physical and conceptual work that goes into a successful natural wine enterprise. No matter: these wines are distinctly Neusidelersee, with some of the Pannonian warmth that crafts a core of ripe fruit balanced by the otherwise chilly latitude which imparts the all-important backbone of these wines’ consistently pretty acidity. Yum.
Varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc
