The Details
100% Chardonnay. Biodynamic. From the east-facing Grand Cru vineyard site Le Moulin in the village of Oger.
From the Importer:
Reminiscent of the Mixolydien mode, this cuvée is complex, balanced, and marked by a rare silkiness. The first release of Mixolydien is a single vintage (2014), disgorged in 2019. Future bottlings will be from the perpetual solera of the Moulin vineyard having begun in 2014.
Fermentation and aging in stainless steel tanks (2/3) and used barrels (1/3).
Malolactic fermentation is not blocked or encouraged, though it generally takes place in barrel and not in tank. 50% aged in stainless steel vat with malolactic fermentation, 35% aged in oak barrels with partial malolactic fermentation and reserve wines.
