The Details
The classic, youthful bottling from the legendary Muscadet estate Domaine de la Pépière, long run by its founder and organic-Muscadet trailblazer Marc Ollivier until 2019 when he retired and passed the reigns to Rémi Branger and Gwénaëlle Croix.
100% Melon de Bourgogne from a mix of terroirs across Gravel, clay, sand, and granite soils whose vines average 40 years of age. The fruit is hand-harvested before being directly pressed into stainless steel where spontaneous fermentation occurs prior to a 6-9month aging sur lie in large underground glass-lined vats. Bottled the following spring. Coarsely (sterile) filtered, unfined, minimal added SO2. 12.5% ABV
Salty, limey, straightforward yet elegant -- a classic expression of a perennially under-loved wine.
