The Details
In the heart of the famous Mosel Valley, near the town of Piesport, a winemaker who’s been widely tapped as the next great generational talent in German Winemaking has taken a CV that would make the world-over envious, and run with it. Following several yearslong stints working right alongside Klaus Peter Keller, Heymann-Löwenstein, Schönleber, and the nearly mythic Egon Müller, Julian Haart has ~ten expert vintages under his belt. For the wine share this year, we’re carrying his 1000L, so-subtly-nearly-100%-trocken Riesling, a wine that comes from a 1000 liter German foudre of various foudres whose juice Julian deems in the cellar not-quite perfect enough for the appellation wines; basically it is the wine produced from the younger vines planted in, among other sites, the Grand Cru Goldtröpfchen vineyard. A gorgeous entry to the range of wines produced by the next big thing (that’s already here).
100% Riesling, fermented with wild yeasts in a 1000L foudre. Unfined, unfiltered with a touch of SO2. High toned, bone dry, lime-zesty. A refreshing and elegant entry-level bottling from a master of Mosel Riesling.
