The Details
From Chavagnes-Les-Eaux in the western end of the Loire Valley in Anjou Noir, this is 100% Chenin Blanc from 40+ year-old vines near Bonnezeaux. Grapes are hand-harvested and directly pressed to fiberglass/stainless steel tank where the juice spontaneously ferments. Racked to neutral oak barrel for 1 year élevage (regular topping up), and a second year sans topping up (the wine is gorgeous and, aromatically, lightly oxidative while unbelievably fresh on the palate). Bottled unfined, unfiltered, minimal added SO2. 13%ABV
