EXTREMELY ALLOCATED - due to this, we are only selling 1 bottle per cuvée /customer.
An utterly unique red from from Eric Pfifferling of Domaine L'Anglore who tends 7 hectares of vines around Tavel, his hometown on the western side of the River Rhône where the valley begins to horseshoe just north of Avignon. This is a historic winegrowing region, one where all wines made in the AOC must be heftier rosés of at least 11% ABV. Historically said to have been a favorite of figures as disparate as Louis XIV (aka the Sun King) and Ernest Hemingway. This is a Côte du Rhone rather than a Tavel AOC bottling to abide by these regulations.
Vinification: Though primarily Grenache Centenaire (100 year-old+ vines!) atop sandy soil, this is a blend with local varieties Aramon, Cinsault, Clairette constituting the rest of the cuvée. Hand-harvested, the grapes undergo whole-cluster fermentation, kickstarted by native yeasts, macerate for 15 days, and undergo slight aging in old oak barrels. Unfined, unfiltered, no additional SO2. 13% ABV
