About the wine
One of the top wines from not only the Rhône's but the entire (natural) wine world's top producers.
Côteaux de Bassenon, also known as Côteaux de Semons, is the most southern vineyard in Côte-Rôtie. After the phylloxera pandemic wiped off French vineyards in the late 19th century, the majority of Jean-Michel's grapes in this plot were planted in 1896. That means these are some old-vines folks! Migmatite/Biotite soils.
40% Syrah, 40% Serine, 20% Viognier. Spontaneous fermentation and élevage in neutral oak barrel for 24 months prior to being aged unfined, unfiltered, no additional SO2. Zero/zero. 13.5%ABBV
The Region: Rhône Valley, France
