About the wine

This wine is made from a blend of Marsanne, Viognier, and Muscat grapes that were grown in Millton's vineyards. The grapes were carefully handpicked, then fermented and aged on the skins in the winery's cellars before being bottled on-site. The resulting wine has a cloudy appearance and is a wonderful representation of the winemakers' hard work and the delicious fruits of their labor.

The Producer: Milton Vineyards

In 1984, James and Annie Millton founded The Millton Vineyard in Manutuke, New Zealand. This area, located on the East Coast of the North Island, has a rich history of grape cultivation dating back to 1871. Annie's father, Mr. John Clark, had previously established vineyards on his estate in Manutuke during the late 1960s. After gaining experience in renowned wine regions such as Champagne Bollinger in France and Weingut Kurstner in Rheinhessen, Germany, James and Annie returned to Gisborne. They extensively researched and replanted their family's grape growing business before officially establishing The Millton Vineyard in 1984.

The Millton Vineyard consists of three distinct vineyards in Manutuke: Opou, Te Arai, and the Clos de Ste. Anne. The appellation's unique character is attributed to its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean and the presence of geologically youthful sedimentary soils. The cooling sea breezes contribute to a friendly and temperate climate, particularly during the hot summer months. All vineyards practice traditional viticulture methods and are dry-farmed, without the use of insecticides, herbicides, systemic fungicides, or soluble fertilizers.
