About the wine

From the sub-region of the Cher Valley within the broader Loire Valley, this is 50/50 Cabernets Franc & Sauvignon. The grapes spontaneously ferment whole-cluster with a 15 day maceration prior to pressing into 225L neutral barrel for 8 months. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, minimal SO2 at bottling this vintage. 12.5% ABV

The Producer: Pierre-Olivier Bonhomme

Born out of the now-defunct Puzelat-Bonhomme négociant business, Domaine P-O Bonhomme is, without a doubt an OG of the natural wine scene in the Loire. Hard to overstate how understated and perennially underrated the wines of Pierre-Olivier are -- they carry the same expertise and often similar terroir to those wines of Clos de Tue Boeuf -- minus the price points! Loire wines which harken to a specific yesteryear - the more recent ones, the '90s, the vins de garde that broke the mold without seeking some false scion of 'perfection.' Easy to love wines composed of Gamay, Cab Franc, Cab Sauv, Chenin, Pineau d'Aunis, Sauvignon Blanc... some of our favorites, especially with some age. Voila: Monsieur now half a decade on and fully delicious.
