The Details
100% Chenin on siliceous clay and limestone in Anjou (Loire). Undergoes full malolactic fermentation in neutral oak with 24 months élevage on its lees. As you might imagine, this is a supple expression of Chenin, one that guards its limestone minerality but offers some fleshy stone fruit and a hint of mango.
Sylvie Augereau is a heroine of natural wine, having written about the subject for decades - eventually founding La Dive Bouteille in 2001, the world's most renowned natural wine fair - before hopping in the ring herself to make a bit of juice. Sylvie is of course a strict adherent to the principles of only using organic fruit (mostly biodynamic), native yeasts and little to no intervention in the cellar. Her wines, like Sylvie, are wise, wisecracking, and totally sublime.
