Weingut Heiligenblut, "Riesling Trocken, 'Kapellenburg'" 2020

For the past century and a half, Weingut Heligenblut (whose origins can be traced back to 746 AD when Saint Boniface had the first vines laid down here) has been tended by the Hannemann family. This is 100% Riesling from 25-30 year-old vines biodynamically cultivated in the Rheinhessen. One of their top wines, this single-site is from vines planted at the top of a hill around a chapel erected in 1890. Grapes are hand-harvested, directly pressed, and spontaneously ferment and age for several years in a combination of stainless steel and neutral barrel all sur lie prior to bottling unfined, unfiltered, minimal added SO2.
