The Details

From the Les Cailloux parcel on the famed Mont Benault of Côteaux du Layon (given modern prominence by Richard Leroy & his remarkable Chenin grown here), this is 100% Chenin Blanc from 30-35 year-old vines grown on the schistous/sandstone soils of this bit of Montbenault. Grapes are hand-harvested, directly pressed, and spontaneously ferment and age (for 12-18 months) in neutral barrel prior to bottling unfined, unfiltered, minimal added SO2.
