This is Gamay & Grolleau from Damien Bureau, an icon of the Loire's natural wine scene and former colleague of Sebastian "Babass." He works 3 hectares of vines around Champ-sur-Layon in Anjou, Loire Valley.
Tasting Notes: Juicy but not simple - a slightly effervescent kick from the bottle sends the blueberries and huckleberries flying, with a little bit of mint and pepper to offer cushion for your mouth.
Vinification: A blend of Gamay and Grolleau hand-harvested from vines grown in schist soil. A relatively short maceration and fermentation follows, and the wine is bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with no additional SO2.
