This is a medium-funk, lively, pristine and perfumed Alsatian Pinot Noir from Julien Albertus of Domaine Kumpf et Meyer who works sixteen hectares of biodynamic vines in Rosheim, located in the northern reaches of Alsace (northeastern France).
Vinfication: 100% Pinot Noir hand-harvested from 40 year-old vines grown in clay and limestone soils. The grapes macerate over the course of 15 days and are destemmed (spontaneous fermenation; ambient yeasts; no temp. control) with some light pumping over before a 13-month élevage in a mix of old barrels and demi-muids. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, no additional SO2.
